CIELO HEALTHCARE
HEALTHCARE INTERIOR
The design of this healthcare screening centre is rooted in the principles of accessibility, comfort, and functionality, carefully tailored to serve patients and healthcare professionals in an efficient, welcoming environment. At the core of the design is the belief that healthcare spaces should feel healing, not clinical. With this in mind, the project integrates natural light, calming material palettes, and spatial clarity to create an environment that puts patients at ease while supporting high standards of medical care.

The center is thoughtfully zoned to facilitate smooth circulation and maintain privacy and hygiene Positioned as the central hub, the waiting area is bright and open, with ample seating and visual connection to adjacent zones. It sets a calm tone for the visit, supported by warm lighting, biophilic touches, and minimalist furnishings. At the heart of this space is a carefully arranged cluster of sofas, designed for comfort during short and extended waits. The layout encourages informal groupings without crowding, allowing for both individual quiet and family seating. Upholstery in warm, neutral tones adds to the softness of the environment, reinforcing a sense of ease and familiarity.

A defining feature of the space is the custom-designed bookrack unit, which serves dual purposes. Functionally, it acts as a screen between the waiting area and the diagnostic cabins, offering a subtle but effective visual barrier that ensures patient privacy during entry and exit. Aesthetically, the unit is more than just a divider—it introduces texture and vertical rhythm, while inviting moments of interaction through curated reading materials and art objects. The presence of books and warm wood surfaces creates a living-room-like familiarity, countering typical medical sterility.

Above, a large circular LED light fixture floats centrally, anchoring the space with its quiet sculptural presence. This oversized luminaire provides diffused, glare-free illumination that softens the environment, while also visually tying the space together. It serves as a symbolic "sun" in the room—orienting, warming, and calming—further reinforcing the space’s role as a place of pause and reassurance.

Together, the seating, bookrack, and lighting create a waiting zone that supports patient dignity, comfort, and emotional ease, while subtly organising the spatial flow of the centre.

Framing this is the bold material expression of the Corten steel envelope that wraps the vision, dental, and pulmonary function test cabins. The weathered patina of the steel introduces earthy, tactile warmth to the space, while its rugged surface contrasts beautifully with the soft furnishings and light interior palette. Functionally, the Corten cladding provides a coherent architectural identity to the diagnostic zone, organizing and defining it as a distinct spatial volume within the open plan. Its rusty hues subtly echo the tones of the wooden shelving and neutral upholstery, tying together the material narrative with understated elegance.

Between the corten steel envelope and the waiting area lies the physician’s room which balances professional functionality with a sense of personal care. Materials and lighting are selected to promote a sense of trust and comfort, reinforcing the patient-doctor relationship. A feature wall clad in terracotta tiles enriches the space with material depth and textural warmth, acting as a backdrop to the space.

On the other side of the waiting area, an inviting café corner provides a moment of pause, promoting wellness beyond diagnostics. This space encourages relaxation for patients and companions, reinforcing the center’s commitment to holistic health.
The material palette blends natural wood tones, raw corton steel, terracotta tiles and muted greys, creating a serene and non-intimidating atmosphere. Flooring and finishes are selected for both durability and tactile comfort, essential for high-traffic healthcare settings.

Lighting is a mix of ambient and task-specific fixtures, with special care taken to ensure all areas are well-illuminated without harsh glare, critical for medical examinations and patient comfort alike.
